LASER GENESIS

What is Laser Genesis Rejuvenation?

Laser Genesis is a unique laser procedure using a laser called a 1064 Nd:yag.  It works by gently heating the collagen in deeper layers of your skin.  The laser light passes through the skin’s surface to reach the deeper layer where collagen exists, like light through glass, leaving the surface intact.  By gradually heating the deeper layer, the body responds naturally, over time, to thicken existing collagen & stimulate new collagen fibers begin to grow.  This is the ultimate “anti-aging” procedure.

Is Laser Genesis safe for my skin?

This laser treatment is a “non-ablative” laser procedure and is extremely safe on all skin types & even tanned skin.  Although we recommend that you avoid significant sun exposure prior to the treatment because of the risk of increased irritation, you may have a Laser Genesis treatment even after sun exposure.  Although there are risks with any laser procedure, in our practice, this is one of the safest treatments performed.

What does Laser Genesis feel like?

This treatment feels like warm, gentle drops of water on your skin.  It is not uncomfortable at all.  Most patients enjoy the gradual warming of the skin as treatment progresses.  Your practitioner will communicate with you during the entire procedure, ensuring your comfort and safety.  At no time is this treatment painful.

How long will Laser Genesis treatment take?

Full face treatment takes approximately 30 minutes.  Spot treatments around the eyes or mouth take approximately 15 minutes.

How many Laser Genesis treatments will I need?

Generally 5 treatments, 2 to 4 weeks apart are needed for significant skin improvement.  Depending upon your goals and degree of improvement desired, follow-up maintenance treatments will likely be needed.  Since, unfortunately, the aging process cannot be prevented and skin will continue to incidentally receive exposure to the environment, continuing to stimulate new collagen is very important.  Maintenance treatments every 3 to 6 months will ensure continued skin improvement and delay collagen breakdown.

What happens to the skin after Laser Genesis treatment?

You may experience mild warmth and temporary pinkness of the skin lasting no more than one hour.  Other than this, you should expect no downtime whatsoever after the procedure.  You may apply make-up immediately after treatment if you desire.

When can I resume normal activities after Laser Genesis?

You may resume normal activities almost immediately.  We do ask that you avoid direct sun exposure after treatment.  If you do go in the sun, protect the treated area with our SkinMedica Environmental Defense SPF 30 sunblock.
