What is the Pearl Fusion Procedure?

The Pearl Fusion Procedure is a fusion of the Pearl and Pearl Fractional Treatments.

• The Pearl procedure combines the impact and results of resurfacing lasers with the gentleness and safety of non-invasive procedures to treat aging and sun-damaged skin.  Pearl reduces wrinkles, uneven texture and sun spots to provide a healthy, pearl-like glow.
• We then target specific areas using the Pearl Fractional Laser. The Pearl Fractional is a new volumizing fractional laser perfected for photoaging in just one treatment. Pearl fractional offers the best combination of patient experience and recovery time. Pearl Fractional improves photodamage, tone and texture as well as a noticeably smoother, brighter complexion.

How does the Pearl Laser Procedure work?

During the procedure, the top layer of skin is treated with very quick pulses of light.   The laser simultaneously sends heat to the deeper layers of skin, stimulating collagen, to provide long-term benefits.  A natural protective dressing forms on the skin, to minimize downtime during the restorative process.  On day 3 or 4, this natural dressing will peel off, leaving new, healthy, vibrant skin.  Within 2 weeks, you will notice overall skin clarity, smoothness and softness.

How does the Pearl Fractional Laser Procedure work?

Fractional therapy describes a treatment that affects only a fraction or small percentage of the skin. With Pearl Fractional, laser pulses place tiny holes deep in the skin. Columns of damaged tissue are selectively removed, leaving surrounding skin intact.  The tiny holes enable safe treatment and rapid recovery, the deep treatment provides results in a single session and controlled energy means maximum results with a more comfortable patient experience.

Is the Pearl Fusion Procedure safe for my skin?

Since this is an “ablative” treatment, it does remove the very surface layers of the skin.  This is why this procedure can deliver dramatic results.  However, it is extremely safe on light to medium skin tones, and is not recommend for darker skin.  You must avoid significant sun exposure for 2 weeks prior to having this treatment done.  Although there are risks with any light based procedure, Dr. Jill Lezaic and her clinical staff have performed hundreds of Pearl Laser procedures.  By following our instructions closely, you will find this to be a very safe procedure.

What does the Pearl Laser Procedure feel like?

For your comfort, we will apply a topical anesthetic cream (numbing cream) prior to treatment.  Most patients are then very comfortable and are able to tolerate the procedure very well. Most patients describe the treatment as a series of fast, hot pinches.

How long will the Pearl Fusion Procedure treatment take?

The Pearl Fusion treatment itself will take approximately 45 minutes.

How many Pearl Fusion Procedures will I need?

Most patients will see significant improvement after just one treatment.

What happens to the skin after the Pearl Laser Procedure?

The skin will look sunburned and may be slightly swollen. Patients report little or no discomfort post treatment. You will apply a thin layer of the SkinMedica Restorative Ointment to the skin for 4 to 5 days after treatment. Your skin will then peel completely. During post care patients should limit sun exposure and wear protective clothing.

Can the Pearl be combined with Surgery?

Absolutely.  In fact, the combination of resurfacing lasers & surgically correcting skin laxity is the most powerful thing you can do to turn back the clock & give you the most dramatic results possible.
